PokéSurvivor weather effects

Last updated · Unofficial fan guide · Facts checked against the official site and game source

Five weathers can roll during a run. Each one changes damage by attack type for everyone on the field, and two of them also hurt Pokémon that are not adapted to them.

Weather effects

WeatherDamage changesSide effect
Harsh sunlightFire ×1.5 · Water ×0.5—
RainWater ×1.5 · Electric ×1.2 · Fire ×0.5—
SandstormRock, Ground, Steel ×1.3Other types lose a little HP over time
SnowfallIce ×1.5Non-Ice Pokémon lose a little HP and move a bit slower
FogGhost, Fairy, Psychic ×1.3—

These multipliers stack with the type chart. A Fire move that is super effective (×1.6) in harsh sunlight (×1.5) is a big spike, while the same move in rain is cut in half.

When weather happens

  • Never in the first two minutes of a run.
  • After that the game rolls once per minute with an 18% chance, which works out to roughly one weather every six minutes.
  • Each weather lasts about a minute and fades in and out over about three seconds, so the multipliers ramp rather than snap.
  • In co-op the host decides the weather and everyone sees the same one.

Weather odds by biome

The map has different biomes, and each favours certain weathers (relative weights from the game code):

  • Forest: rain most likely, then fog and sun; snow and sand are rare.
  • Cave: fog and snow most likely, rain and sand occasionally, no sun.
  • Volcano: sun and sandstorm most likely, fog occasionally.
Practical tip: if your partner is Fire, the volcano biome is friendly territory; a Water partner should be ready to switch to a non-Water move when the sun comes out.

Playing around weather

  1. Keep one move of a second type so a bad weather does not halve all of your damage.
  2. Rock, Ground and Steel partners are immune to sandstorm chip damage; Ice partners ignore snow chip and slow.
  3. Fog makes Ghost, Fairy and Psychic moves stronger for enemies too, so be careful around those hordes.
  4. Build around weather with the builds page and the tier list.

FAQ

How often does weather happen in PokéSurvivor?

According to the game code, weather can start from minute 2. The game checks once a minute with an 18% chance, so on average roughly once every six minutes, and each weather lasts about a minute.

Does weather affect enemies too?

Yes. The damage multipliers apply to attacks of that type from both you and the enemies.

Which weather is best for Electric types?

Rain. Besides boosting Water ×1.5 and cutting Fire to ×0.5, rain also boosts Electric attacks ×1.2.
