Almost all 966 Pokémon have a shiny form in PokéSurvivor, drawn as a recoloured sprite. There are two ways to get them: in the wild and from the gacha.
Shiny odds

What 1/4096 means in practice
Because PokéSurvivor throws hundreds of enemies at you per run, 1/4096 is less brutal than it sounds. The chance of seeing at least one shiny after defeating n enemies is 1 − (4095/4096)n:
- 1,000 enemies ≈ 22%
- 2,839 enemies ≈ 50%
- 5,000 enemies ≈ 70%
- 10,000 enemies ≈ 91%
Daily missions alone ask you to defeat 300–800 Pokémon, and the "Veteran" achievement is 10,000 defeats, so a regular player will meet wild shinies fairly often. (Math is ours; the 1/4096 rate is from the game.)
How to spot and secure a shiny
- The shiny sparkles, and the game shows an alert.
- An arrow at the edge of the screen points towards it when it is off-screen.
- Defeat it. It joins your collection immediately.
Shiny hunting tips
- Maximise kills per minute. Shiny chances are per spawn, so area damage (auras, meteors, bursts) is the best hunting tool. See the tier list.
- Survive longer. More time alive equals more spawns. Upgrades and builds that keep you alive also raise your shiny rate per run.
- Spend tickets. Each pull is a flat 1% shiny roll, and duplicate normal pulls still convert into PokéCoins. Read the gacha guide.
- Play co-op. More players means more action on screen; check the co-op guide.
Shiny achievements
- Something shines: get 1 shiny (title: Brilliant).
- An eye for shine: get 5 shinies.
- Shiny hunter: get 20 shinies (title: Shiny hunter).

FAQ
What are the shiny odds in PokéSurvivor?
Every wild Pokémon that spawns has a 1 in 4096 chance to be shiny. Every gacha pull has a 1 in 100 chance to come out shiny.
How do I catch a wild shiny?
A shiny enemy sparkles and an arrow at the edge of the screen points to it. Defeat it and it is added to your collection.
Can I play as my shiny Pokémon?
Yes. Once you own a partner's shiny form you can choose normal or shiny in your collection, and since 12 October there is a toggle right under your partner in the main menu.
What happens if I pull a shiny I already have?
Since 12 October, gacha shinies no longer come out as duplicates: if you roll one you already own, you get a different one of the same rarity that you are missing.
